What is Pilates?

Pilates is exercises used to improve posture and movement.

The Pilates method is a body-conditioning routine designed to build strength and stamina, awareness of movement patterning and improve flexibility and body co-ordination. A Pilates exercise program is based on a set of universal principles and concepts that involve the integration of mind and body, thus can invigorate, rehabilitate and strengthen the body and give you a feeling of well-being and health that will enhance your everyday life. The most common way to teach a larger group of clients balls, stretch bands, weights, Pilates circles, wobble boards and more. The term Studio Pilates describes exercises taught on the specific equipment, machines which were developed by Joseph Pilates, the inventor of the Pilates method. These classical machines are the Trapeze Table, the Reformer, the Wunda Chair, the Ladder Barrel and the Spine Corrector. “Studio classes” are taught as one-on-one or semi-private, where the latter shall be a small group of people, with a ratio of not more than 4 clients to 1 teacher.
